EV Chargers Repair Services | Rush Electrical Service

Electrical vehicles have become a trend, and many people choose this type of vehicle for its efficiency and safety for the environment. Like any other electronic, EVs also need to be charged using electricity, and a specific charger needs to be used. Many homeowners choose to have their EV chargers for their convenience. Rush Electrical Service is here to assist you anytime.

Installing an EV charger has different factors for it to work properly and meet the requirements. All our electricians are fully licensed, trained, and experienced in handling different electrical services, including Home EV Charger Installation.

However, even it will to the point that the EV Chargers won’t work as they should. Panic can’t be avoided, and you will do everything for it to work. There are different reasons why your EV charger suddenly stops working, and there are ways for it to work again.

1. When The EV Charger Has Insects – Most insects, such as spiders, find their way inside the EV charger to be their home. When this happens, webs are filled in, resulting in the charger not working. Check the EV charger now and then, and more unnecessary things inside.

2. Forgot To Plugged In- When you have a plugged-in EV charger, there are some instances that you may forget to plug in. Situations can cause problems when you are preoccupied with many things that need to be tended to. Even if there is an app available that will help to remind you to plug in the EV, it will still be forgotten. Aside from this, it can also affect if the cords and the plugs are not clean.

3. Frozen Charger – Usually, during the winter season, the charge ports and the cords can be covered with ice, resulting in the Charger not working when you need to use it. It is advantageous if you have the Charger in your garage area, but not all have one, especially for outdoor charging.

4. Damaged EV Cords – An EV cord regularly pulled, dragged, coiled, attached and detached, and hung has a friction point wherein it will eventually wear out. A damaged cord can also result in accidents.

5. Vandalism and Theft – These are the most common and known issues with the EV charger. For public charging stations, it is common that the charger cords and plugs are destroyed by butting, and some would even steal the cord for the copper. It also affects EV owners, who need to look for other ways to charge their vehicles.

6. Run Over EV Chargers – After it is used, it is important to get the charge properly;y stowed. The plug end of the Charger must not be run over as this would cause an issue and result in the Charger not working anymore.

When you notice that your EV charger is no longer working, whether it is ton or damage to the plugs, it needs to be checked by a certified electrician with the experience and knowledge on how to repair the EV charger. You can contact us to have it checked and fixed.

When you need an EV charger repair, this must be done properly and correctly to prevent other issues from happening. Letting a professional, licensed, and experienced in handling the repairs of the EV charger ensures that the proper protocols are being followed to help fix the Charger.

There are ways to troubleshoot the EV charger if it is not working. You can do this if you are unexpectedly in a situation where the EV charger is not working.

When your EV doesn’t charge, it may be due to the following:

  • Your vehicle may not need to be charged due to:
  1. Being locked from charging.
  2. Waiting for the pre-set schedule that is set up by the vehicle.
  3. Already fully charged.
  • Red “Fault” LED Display is ON – If the connector lock fails – the cable lock failure causes a common red “Fault” indicator. With a socketed charger, the unit must be able to lock the cable in place before it charges. Try to remove the cable ( from the charger end) and reinsert it firmly. Ensure that the connector is fully secured.
  • Charging Cable is Locked in Place – For socketed chargers, the cable must be unplugged from the vehicle end first before you remove the plug from the charger end. Switching the Charger off before you disconnect the cable from the vehicle will cause the charging cable’s connector to remain locked in place at the Charger’s socket and won’t retract until after returning the power to the Charger. If you have home chargers, ensure the power is restored to the EV charger, and plug the cable back into the vehicle.

Aside from this, you can also do the following why you cannot charge your EV using the Charger available.

  • The cable may not be fully connected at both ends – double-check the cable is plugged in. Unplug both ends of the cable before reinserting them firmly to ensure a full connection. The new sockets can be stiff, so make sure you fill the connection.
  • Delay Timer In The Vehicle – Charging may not happen if a schedule has been made in the vehicle. Check that you have not set a delayed charging time in the car.
  • Smart Charger Activated – You might have activated the smart charging in the app, so charging is not scheduled until later. Tab the “Boost” in the app to start the charging immediately.

There are different possible ways to check the condition of the EV charger by following the steps provided. If you are still having issues with the Charger, consider calling for a professional to have it checked.
